ISAN 2024 - Oxford-Birmingham

University of Oxford (23rd-24th July) and University of Birmingham (25-27th July)

The local organising committee of ISAN 2024 were proud to invite those with an interest in autonomic neuroscience, both fundamental and clinical, to the joint Oxford-Birmingham meeting. While the Oxford meeting had a cardiovascular focus, the Birmingham meeting covered the full breadth of autonomic research. To see the conference programmes, click on the links below:

Congratulations to the 2024 winners of the Burnstock Prizes, sponsored by our journal Autonomic Neuroscience: Basic and Clinical

‘Basic Poster’: Karla Rodrigues, from the University of Sao Paulo (Brazil), for her work on respiratory pattern and responses to hypercapnia in adenosine A2A knockout mice. You can read more about the group’s earlier published work in this field in Rodrigues et al 2021.

‘Basic Presentation’: Emi Narai, from Tottori University (Japan), for her work on the roles of orexinergic and non-orexinergic neurones in eliciting cardiovascular responses. You can read more about the group’s work in Narai et al (2024).

‘Clinical Poster’: Daniel Hodgkiss, from the University of Birmingham (UK), for his studies on non-invasive stimulation strategies following spinal cord injury. See the School of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences site as this project develops.  

‘Clinical Presentation’: Matteo Ottaviani, from the Polytechnic University of Marche (Italy) & Dept. Neuroscience, Monash (Australia), for his presentation on ultrasound-guided microneurography of the human vagus nerve in  Ottaviani et al (2020).
